Elements for Thunderstorms Formation

Intra-cloud lightning Single-cell storm Temperate Lifting Unstable Mature Thunder Dissipation

There are three necessary elements for a thunderstorm to form: moisture, lifting, and instability. Moisture is a result of the water cycle, while lifting is the process in which warm air rises high in the atmosphere and cold air remains at a lower level. Instability occurs when the air mass within the thunderstorm is warmer than the surrounding air mass.
