How to Get Clear Skin Fast – 12 Best Tips to Flight Acne

How to Get Clear Skin Face - 12 Best Tips

Dealing with acne-prone skin is one of the hardest skincare tasks ever. You need to be persistent enough to get rid of the impurities and bacteria, but not too harsh or you can make the matter even worse. You need to find the right cosmetics, but also to take all your life habits and choices into consideration.

Acne develops when your pores get blocked with dirt, bacteria, and oil. Because of this, the sebum cannot come out and it stays trapped inside the pores, causing redness and inflammation.

There are many reasons why this happens – from hormones, stress, poor diet, to improper cosmetics. What can help in all these cases is a gentle, balanced approach that covers all your skin’s needs, not just the cleansing part.

Here are the 12 most important tips to keep in mind about how to get clear skin fast :

1.    Don’t use too harsh cleansers

Cleansing your skin regularly (twice a day) is absolutely crucial in order to get rid of acne. However, over-drying cleansers can severely irritate the already inflamed acne prone skin. Plus, if you remove all sebum from your skin, your sebaceous glands may start producing even more oil.

To avoid all this, choose a gentle product that will cleanse your skin without disrupting its normal functioning.

2.  Try the oil cleansing method

Many girls swear by this method, claiming it helped them to completely clear out their acne. To cleanse your skin with oil, use a lightweight natural oil (grapeseed, jojoba, etc.). Apply a thick layer to your skin, massage it in well, then remove it using a hot, wet washcloth.

You can cleanse your face like this in the evening, and in the morning use your regular face wash.

3.  Exfoliate moderately

Regular exfoliation can do a lot for acne-prone skin. It can deep-cleanse and unclog pores, reduce breakouts and speed up the healing of acne marks. However, if you use a harsh scrub to treat the irritated, acne-covered skin, it could damage the skin even further and prolong the recovery process.

That is why you should only use gentle, natural scrubs (for example, based on oatmeal powder). And don’t use it in a middle of a breakout, only on days when your skin doesn’t look very inflamed.

4.  Choose either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide

Both salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide are great in treating acne-prone skin and unclogging pores. However, products that contain both of these ingredients are usually too harsh and drying.

So, try them both to see which one your skin prefers, then opt only for that one. Or, if your face wash, for example, contains salicylic acid, you can opt for a spot treatment that is based on benzoyl peroxide.

5.  Replenish your skin

Many people with acne-prone skin decide to skip moisturizing because they think moisturizers can make their skin even oilier. But, as we already said, most anti-acne products can be very drying, and you need to replenish that lost moisture.

Plus, regularly applying a moisturizer could signal to your skin to stop producing that much sebum.

6.  Opt for non-comedogenic face care products

Comedogenic products are products whose texture and ingredients can easily clog your pores, worsening your acne and causing new breakouts. Try to stick with products labeled as non-comedogenic. They are far less likely to clog your pores, and therefore they are suitable for acne-prone skin.

7.   Apply your spot treatment only to your acne

Spot treatments are not meant to prevent new acne development. They only work on acne that is already there and visible. Applying them to your whole face won’t help at all to prevent breakouts, it can only dry out and irritate your face.

You should only apply a small amount directly to the red spots, and only once or twice a day.

8.  If you have to pop, do it the right way

When done right, popping your acne helps to get rid of the pus and it may help the acne heal faster. However, it should never be done with dirty hands or before the acne is ready to pop.

So, wait until you can clearly see the yellow tip – the pus – under a very thin layer of skin. Wrap your fingers in a clean tissue and don’t press too much. If the pus doesn’t come out easily, leave it alone for another day or two.

9.  Change your pillowcase and face towel regularly

This one is a no brainer. Both your face towel and pillowcase make a perfect environment for impurities buildups and growth of acne-causing bacteria. And they both come in direct contact with your face. By keeping them clean, you can significantly reduce the possibility of developing new acne.

10.  Pay attention to other things that come in touch with your face as well

Most of us are not even aware of how many things come in touch with our faces every single day. Makeup, makeup brushes, sunglasses, phone, headphones, hands, hair, and all the products you put on it…

All these things are usually covered in bacteria that worsen your breakouts. So, cleanse them regularly and avoid contact with your face as much as possible.

11.  Balance your diet

Fast, fatty, spicy, and fried food, carbs, sugar, caffeine, milk and dairy products, soda, and alcohol can all have a negative effect on acne-prone skin. But, this varies a lot from one person to another. The best thing you can do is cut out one food type at the time and see how that change impacts your skin.

Also, a versatile diet rich in fresh vegetables and food rich in omega-3s, antioxidants, and dietary fiber could significantly clear out your skin and help reduce breakouts.

12.   Talk to a dermatologist

Sometimes, severe cases of acne cannot be treated at home. The best possible thing you can do is simply go to a skin expert and ask for advice tailored to your skin’s specific needs.
